Give a Little Vintage Cheer

Ok. I have a serious problem with procrastination. This semester I waited until the night before to write papers and study for finals. Even worse, sometimes I wouldn't start until the day everything was due. I know. HORRIBLE!!! Anyway, school is over for the semester (*disco dance*) but my procrastination has not improved. Although I've been planning for Christmas gifts since the beginning of November, I have a confession: I still have yet to get ANYONE a gift. I feel like a real jerk. But with working getting in the way of my holiday planning, I decided to come up with some plan B's while in the office. I have a solid plan for what items I need to search for to make everyone on my list. Another confession (*inhales deeply*): I probably won't tackle this list until Christmas Eve. (*waits for screams of holiday horror*) I know. I know!!!

Vintage Aprons

Gorgeous flirty vintage aprons are perfect for any chef on your list. Mom, Aunt, and Grandma will love unwrapping this gift on Christmas day. Even though Audrey Hepburn was obviously to fabulous to rock this style in the kitchen, wearing these magnificent aprons will trigger that infamous I Love Lucy style.

Vintage Holiday Obsessions

How excited do you get when you turn on the radio in the car and the first lyrics you hear floating out of the speakers are "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me..." Even though I can usually only get up to day six (blame my short term memory), my passengers know to bring out the earplugs because belting along with the music is my holiday tradition and it reminds me how close the holidays really are. Since Christmas is so NEAR I've decided to bring you all some holiday CHEER (my attempt at a holiday rhyme...is it a fail???)

The twelve days I'm talking about started yesterday so this post is a DOUBLE TROUBLE WHAMMY!!! Enjoy!!!

ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS VINTAGE HOLIDAY'S REMINDED ME...

ONE JOLLY SANTA!!!

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS VINTAGE HOLIDAY'S REMINDED ME...

TWO MISTLETOE KISSES!!!

Ok. I know. Not what you expected. Not really vintage fashion inspired. Not hey, the holiday's are here. It's all about TRADITION now!!!

Shhhhh...Don't Tell Her Secret

You would think I've obviously been hiding under a rock for the last week since I just saw the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show a few nights ago. Instead, I'll blame the academic prison some like to call college and the burden of finals. Initially, I must admit that my middle school dreams of one day gracing that runway with record breaking wings came back and I internally cursed my parents for my height impairment. I eventually composed myself half way through the first scene and focused on the fashions that the infamously flirty models were wearing. Scene 5 interestingly titled "Spell on You" caught my attention the most. The Marie Antoinette inspiration with such easily recognizable vintage musings was to die for. Models wearing lace, puff sleeves, tapestry designs, top hats, and bustles were reminiscent of everything my vintage addiction has come to love. Since most of these looks aren't quite R-T-W unless at a costume party, burlesque show, or carnival, my inspiration stops here. See some of my favorite looks and pretend Victoria has given you some wings and strut your stuff around your apartment or down the hallway at work. Just make sure you don't get caught...its a Secret!!!

Just Vintage

Tweed is such a classic winter style. With colors ranging from browns to grays, to blues, it is such a simple timeless statement piece. Instead of the tweed newsboy caps I used to see my uncles cover their balding heads with, a sexy version of a tweed pant suit is to die for. Layer with floral prints, and you have the perfect look to blow your colleges in the office away. Put a sophisticated twist on the school picture day floral get-ups your mother made you wear with matchy floral or printed suits and have the perfect happy hour look. Throw an inevitably warm fur in the mix, a touch of lace, and maybe a splash of red and you have Cavalli's F/W collection in a nutshell.

I am utterly and completely in love with the Just Cavalli 2011 - 2012 Fall/Winter Collection. This collection gave birth to a beautiful combination of tweed, floral, prints, lace, and furs. All of which are my fall/winter inspiration. The debut of this collection was earlier this year but seeing the newest editorial got me so excited I had to blog from work. Here are some of my favorite looks to warm up such a cold day...

Opposites Attract

I skipped my morning classes today so I felt like such a leather wearing, motorcycle riding, butt kicking rebel chic. But I tried a new hairstyle which turned out curly, and fluffy so I still had that usual "hippie me" deep down in my heart. Lounging around the house I felt funky and cool so I combined these fashion enemies to create an outfit that completely defined my mood

Hi, My name is Elan & I'm Addicted to Vintage...

I haven't posted in ages, but my new inheritance is enough to encourage me to fall in love with vintage all over again. Since I seem to have been neglecting everyone and everything lately due to my academic commitment, I decided to visit my aunt and uncle last night. Fortunately for me she was in the process of overcoming her addiction. For years she has been hoarding clothes, accessories, and handbags and last night was "bag cleaning season". In between our girl talk, she pulled out some of the most amazing vintage handbags I have ever seen in one place. Coach, Liz Claiborne, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and other Italian made genuine leather bags covered the floor. I felt like I was in an 80s tsunami (even though we don't quite have those on the east coast). I admit, I couldn't completely control my drool so she showed me some of her newer style bags to calm me. See if you can contain yourself...
