Cherry on Top

Here's what I wore to The Business of Fashion Networking Event on Tuesday. Since I knew I would be surrounded by fashionable people from all over, I decided to wear something that really defined my personal style. Since I have a habit of always wearing oversized clothing, I figured today would be no different. Throughout the evening, I dubbed this my "little boy outfit". Use this look as inspiration to try out your own menswear inspired style.

Here's What I Wore:
Burgandy Hat - Vintage
Denim Shirt - Thrifted
Tweed Blazer - Vintage
Red Lipstick - MAC
Link Necklace - Vintage
Tan Belt - Vintage
Navy Quilted Shoulder Bag - Vintage
Gray Trousers - Urban Outfitters
Tapestry Litas - Jeffrey Campbell

Fabulous for Free

Who likes free stuff??? (*raises hand eagerly*) Me! Me! I do! I know all of you guys do too.
Since UMBC tuition has robbed me of any youthful luxuries, free or dirt cheap is the only way I get to participate in activities or go to events now-a-days. If you didn't know before, I am addicted to obsessions and I am just as obsessed with free event websites as I am to vintage. One of my favorite go-to bloggers is Free In Dc. This blog is full of free or almost free events in the DC area ranging from art to theater to nightlife. On Tuesday I planned an eventful evening with the boy and my partners in crime. We went to Tryst in Adams Morgan where they had a live jazz event from 8-10 and then went a few blocks away to the Source Theater on 14th street to an Improv show that started at 10.

Since I found such amazing FREE activities, I figured that it was only fitting to wear an expensive looking vintage outfit. Little did anyone know, I styled myself on a budget as usual. Here's what I wore to strut around the nighttime streets of DC. Who says having fun and being fly has to be expensive? Not ER Vintage!

Vintage Tweed Blazer & Sheer Leopard Button Shirt
Harem Pants from H&M
Red Turban (I was having a bad hair day)
Vintage Belt & Vintage Coach Shoulder Bag
Steve Madden Booties (stole them from sissy...shhhhh)

be fabulous vintage divas (and do it for cheap)

Just Vintage

Tweed is such a classic winter style. With colors ranging from browns to grays, to blues, it is such a simple timeless statement piece. Instead of the tweed newsboy caps I used to see my uncles cover their balding heads with, a sexy version of a tweed pant suit is to die for. Layer with floral prints, and you have the perfect look to blow your colleges in the office away. Put a sophisticated twist on the school picture day floral get-ups your mother made you wear with matchy floral or printed suits and have the perfect happy hour look. Throw an inevitably warm fur in the mix, a touch of lace, and maybe a splash of red and you have Cavalli's F/W collection in a nutshell.

I am utterly and completely in love with the Just Cavalli 2011 - 2012 Fall/Winter Collection. This collection gave birth to a beautiful combination of tweed, floral, prints, lace, and furs. All of which are my fall/winter inspiration. The debut of this collection was earlier this year but seeing the newest editorial got me so excited I had to blog from work. Here are some of my favorite looks to warm up such a cold day...
