Beauty and Vintage

The best collaborations are those that produce fantastic products. Recently, I had the awesome opportunity to work with Ashley over at Urbane Natural. She is an amazingly talented blogger who has the best hair care tips and is the owner of Mahogany Queen an amazing hair product line. Obviously Ashley is the gal to whip your locks into shape. So what do you get when you pair up a beauty expert with a vintage shop owner and style models with fab hair products and funky vintage threads...? Well obviously a fab-tastic photoshoot! We (and by "we" I mean Ashley, who also triples as a photog) took some shots at a fantastic location and had a blast. Check out some of the images below and let us know what you think.

Harnessed In Time

The 2013 Spring/Summer designs of Leila Shams are incredible. The pieces seen on the runway during NYFW are definitely to obsess over. The seemingly simplistic garments each have intricate detailing and unsuspected surprises. To make things even better she brilliantly pairs the sheer lace 60s and 70s inspired dresses with rugged leather harnesses. Did I mention how OBSESSED I am. But wait, it gets better. The Leila Shams collection pairs girly lace tops with pieces ranging from denim cut offs, to fringe leather jackets, to tie dye denim. And I still have yet to mention the fabulous prints. Bottom Line...Leila Shams is a fabulous DIVA with an equally fabulously GORGEOUS collection. Check out some of my favorite looks from the collection below.

Me, You, and "Miu Miu"

Attending fashion week in Europe is a dream for so many stylish gals. Seated in the front row of a gorgeous runway presentation in Paris, London, or Milan isn't really the reality for most of us though. I, like many others settle for sneak peaks of the seasons newest fashions by stalking the tweets of the head honchos in the game. A few days ago, I saw a tweet from Joe Zee, creative director of Elle Magazine, that made my day. He expressed his excitement at the Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 Miu Miu show during London Fashion Week. His tweet included the words "70's inspired pant suits" and that was enough to put my vintage obsession in gear. I scoured the web in search of these awesome looks and found the images from the runway presentation during Paris Fashion Week. Close enough. Since I'm utterly IN LOVE take a look at what I describe as heaven (the clothes) on a plank (the runway).

Frozen Floral

In my last post I talked about the awesome vintage fashion event I attended. The weather was fabulous that day so I decided to break out this awesome silk reconstructed vintage dress I just added to my inventory. This gorgeous silk piece is covered in a pastel floral print. I threw on a cropped sweater and a leather jacket for the perfect evening look. I accessorized this super flirty dress with black tights and black booties for a grungier style. Check out some more detailed shots below.

Who Said Plaid Isn't the Fad?

Spring Semester 2012 has officially begun for me! This is the last semester of my undergraduate career and am super EXCITED about graduation which is only 122 days away (yes, I've started a countdown already). Since I'm starting some of my graduate level classes this week I decided to show my professors the fabulous style I have. I spent so much time staring at my closet trying to decide what to wear and I finally stopped with this ensemble. What other items say geek chic more than plaid ANYTHING (don't worry, I'll wait).

About the Look:

I found the skirt on one of my vintage hunting adventures and fell in love with the mixed print. I ended up reconstructing it and creating this high-low hem version of the original high waist skirt. I paired the skirt with a simple denim button up (my new winter staple). The 10 to 15 mph winds made wearing my thick knit sweater tights necessary and my military inspired lace up booties made me a little taller as I strutted around campus. I topped my look off with my new favorite burgundy hat also shown in this post. As I stepped out the door this morning, I grabbed my gorgeous duster coat hoping that it would keep me warm, which it has (so far).

I love this outfit and it made starting another semester of school less draining.
Comment below and tell me about your favorite first day of school outfit ever...
